Job summary

Generac Power Systems Inc. offers a full-time summer internship program (40 hours/week) for 2027, with on-site positions in Wisconsin locations and paid mentorship from experienced engineers.

Interns will explore roles in Product Development, Test & Validation, Simulation Engineering, and Thermal & Fluid Systems, gaining real-world experience, CAD/CAE exposure, and the opportunity to contribute to new product designs and manufacturing improvements.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Understanding or working knowledge of Pro-E and/or AutoCAD.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work full-time during the Summer (40 hours/week); may continue part-time during school.

Responsibilities

• Designs and brings new products to market.
• Provides new product development support across Industrial, Commercial, Residential and/or Retail generator or power tool product areas including CAD models, drawings, and BOMs.
• Interfacing with internal personnel; provide technical support for assigned projects.
• Specifies precise new product functional requirements; designs, tests and integrates components; evaluates cost, reliability, and safety.
• Develops fitness-for-use testing, product specifications and process validation plans for standard products and components.
• Collaborates with manufacturing partners to optimize designs for manufacturability.
• Uses CAD/CAE to model new designs and produce detailed drawings.
• Travels to other Generac facilities as necessary.
