Job summary

Generac Power Systems is seeking an Engineering Intern in Engine Development to collaborate with seasoned engineers on development and design requests for our products. Under supervision, you will assist in testing and planning engineering projects and gain hands-on experience with CAD, analysis, and product validation.

During the internship, you will build technical skills, contribute to real-world programs, and participate in cross-functional teams across manufacturing and product engineering.

Qualifications

• Pursuing BS in Mechanical Engineering.
• Understanding or working knowledge of Creo.
• Basic internal combustion engine knowledge.
• Excel proficiency.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Designs, validates, and brings new products to market.
• Provide new product development support in the generator/product area including CAD models, drawings, and BOMs; support development plans and interface with internal personnel.
• Specifies precise new product functional requirements; designs and tests components and evaluates cost, reliability, and safety.
• Develops fitness-for-use testing, product specs and validation plans; creates and reviews material specs and BOMs.
• Collaborates with manufacturing partners to optimize designs for manufacturability.
• Supports development plans (schedule, cost, inputs).
• Travel to other Generac facilities as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.
