Job summary

Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury invites students to join the Local Government Audit Internship Program in Middle Tennessee for Summer 2027, June 1 to August 6. Interns gain hands-on audit exposure, participate in training, and build professional relationships through cohort activities and a final presentation.

Responsibilities include examining records and financial statements for local government entities, assessing internal controls, and evaluating compliance with laws and grants.

Qualifications

• Rising juniors, seniors, or grad accounting students
• Completed at least 6 accounting credits
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, organizational, and writing skills

Responsibilities

• Learn to examine and review records, reports, financial statements, and management practices for local government entities and other organizations receiving public funds
• Evaluate fairness of financial statement presentation, adequacy of internal controls, efficiency and effectiveness of operations and systems, and compliance with laws, contracts, and grant agreements
