Job summary

NiSource is offering a 12-week Summer IT - Software Engineer Intern program starting May 2027. The position can be based in Columbus, OH or Merrillville, IN, with candidates residing within 50 miles eligible.

Interns will learn in a team environment, complete meaningful software tasks, and gain exposure to NiSource operations and the utilities industry, while building professional relationships and participating in development activities.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in data science, CS, or related field with ≥1 year of undergrad.
• GPA of 3.0+ required.
• Experience with cloud, software development, data analytics, automation, or enterprise technologies.
• Excellent analytical abilities and problem solving.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Self-discipline for planning and organizing tasks.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Willing to work 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Assist Enterprise Architecture with standards and roadmaps in technology planning.
• Support IT Services in application and infrastructure delivery.
• Assist Infrastructure with network design and ITIL processes.
• Contribute to IT Security incident response exercises and security planning.
• Assist IT Applications development lifecycle tasks and project work.
• Support Business Analytics with data discovery and visualization.
