Job summary

GuideStone Capital Management is offering a Summer Internship that supports the Public Markets team, focusing on manager research, portfolio construction, risk management, and oversight of external investment managers. You will learn to evaluate managers, build portfolios, and use data and AI tools including Microsoft Copilot to support investment processes.

Incoming junior or senior students with a Finance, Economics, Accounting, Data Science, or related field are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Must be an incoming junior or senior
• Minimum 3.0 GPA
• Pursuing Finance, Economics, Accounting, Data Science or related field
• Interest or experience in AI tools to research and automate tasks
• Familiarity with Bloomberg is a plus
• Strong Excel skills; Power BI is a plus
• Self-motivated with strong organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication

Responsibilities

• Assist analysts with research and monitoring of external investment managers across asset classes
• Help develop and test pre-trade tools and templates (Excel, Python or R) for trade prep and portfolio analysis
• Extract and organize data from data providers and save in structured folders
• Tag research files for Copilot-enabled search and summarization
• Attend meetings, draft notes and summaries of discussions
• Contribute to peer group and asset class research as assigned
• Complete a summer project and present findings to the investments team

The Summer Intern in GuideStone Capital Management will support the Public Markets team, the group responsible for investing across assets classes and for selecting, monitoring and overseeing the external investment managers GuideStone hires to invest within them. This is an asset allocator type role rather than a stock or bond picking role. The focus of the team is on manager research, portfolio construction, risk management and oversight across equity, fixed income, alternative strategies, and multi asset fund of funds. Throughout this work, the intern will be afforded the opportunity to learn how we evaluate managers, build portfolios, and use data and AI tools, including Microsoft Copilot, to support the investment process.

What You Will Do

• Assist analysts with research and ongoing monitoring of external investment managers across asset classes, including gathering performance, holdings, fee and firm-level information
• Help develop and test simple pre-trade tools and templates (Excel, Python or R) that support trade preparation, rebalancing, cash flow and portfolio exposure analysis
• Extract and organize manager, product and peer group data from eVestment and other data providers, saving it in a secured, well-structured team folder
• Help structure and tag research files so the team can search and summarize them using Microsoft Copilot and other approved AI tools
• Attend manager meetings, due diligence calls and internal investment discussions, and draft notes and summaries
• Assist with peer group, benchmark and asset class research on topics assigned by the team
• Complete a summer project and present findings to the investments team at the end of the internship
• Other duties as assigned

What You Will Need

• Must be an incoming Junior or Senior
• Must be a current student throughout the duration of the internship program
• Degree concentration in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Data Science or a related field preferred
• Minimum 3.0 GPA
• Demonstrated passion for investing and the public markets through coursework, a student-managed fund, an investment club or personal research
• Basic programming experience in Python, R, or a similar language through coursework, personal projects, or internships
• Interest or experience in using Microsoft Copilot or other AI tools to research, summarize and automate routine tasks
• Familiarity with Bloomberg would be a plus
• Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel; experience with Power BI is a plus
• Self-starter with initiative and integrity
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong work ethic
