Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company in Rock Hill, SC is seeking a Project Engineering intern to gain hands-on experience in the nuclear power industry and contribute to the AP300 and AP1000 projects. This paid, full-time onsite internship runs May–August 2027.

You will report to the APx Project Engineering Manager, collaborate with multiple engineering groups, help develop licensing strategies, and assist in preparing reports and presentations for partners.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in engineering.
• Completed sophomore year of college.
• Interest in nuclear power industry and nuclear systems.
• Previous internship or project experience in engineering.
• Basic knowledge of project management principles.

About the role:

As a Project Engineering intern, you will gain hands‑on experience in the nuclear power industry and contribute to the development of the latest technology.

You will report to the APx Project Engineering Manager and be located at our Rock Hill facility. This is a paid full‑time onsite position for the summer, May - August 2027.

Key Responsibilities:

• Help develop engineering solutions for the AP300 and AP1000 projects
• Support the project engineering team in compiling technical design information and preparing reports
• Work with several engineering groups to ensure delivery of engineering commitments
• Participate in project meetings and contribute to discussions on technical challenges and solutions
• Help develop licensing strategies and help fulfill licensing requirements
• Conduct analysis to support project decision‑making
• Help prepare presentations and documentation for all partners

Qualifications:

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in or master's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field)
• Completed Sophomore year of college
• Interest in the nuclear power industry and nuclear systems and technologies
• Previous internship or project experience in engineeringFamiliarity with nuclear power plant design and operations
• Basic knowledge of project management principles

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The hourly rate for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $25.40 to $29.00 per hour.
