Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company invites you to join the APX Design Automation & Configuration team as a Product Engineer Intern for the summer of 2027. Located at Cranberry, PA, this paid internship runs May through August, with the WNEXUS software suite and WECAF framework as a core focus of developing, maintaining, and deploying tools and data connections.

You will report to the Software Development Manager, gain hands-on experience with backlog management, and contribute to tool

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in an engineering or computer science field.
• Completed sophomore year of college.
• Ability to troubleshoot functional software issues from a user perspective.
• Self-starter with ability to work independently on assignments.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to selection/development/maintenance of the WNEXUS Software Suite tools used within APX organization.
• Collaborate to intake new functional requirements and assess feasibility with current architecture.
• Support WNEXUS deployments by discussing new functionality with internal/external customers.
• Learn WECAF framework features to optimize tool use and data connections across applications.
• Assist with product backlog maintenance of core WNEXUS Suite applications.
• Help standardize the WNEXUS product management process through training materials.
• Plan, schedule, and execute assignments within project schedule and budget.

About the role:

As a Product Engineer Intern, you will work in the APX Design Automation & Configuration team.

You will report to the Software Development Manager and be located at our Cranberry location. This is a paid full-time position for the summer, May - August 2027.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the selection/development/maintenance of the WNEXUS Software Suite tools used within the APX organization
• Work with team members to intake new functional requirements, understand what is possible with existing architecture and what is new functionality.
• Support the WNEXUS Software Deployments daily tasks by participating in discussions with internal and external customers on new functionality requests
• Learn the WECAF framework features to understand best use of toolset and support efficient data connections across applications
• Support the team in product backlog maintenance of the core WNEXUS Suite Applications
• Help drive standardization into the WNEXUS product management process, through assisting with training of individuals and development of standard training material
• Plan, schedule, and execute assignments independently within project schedule and budgetary requirements

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The hourly rate for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $25.40 to $29.00 per hour.
