Job summary

Missouri Department of Transportation seeks a Procurement Intern to support purchasing of commodities and services in accordance with state regulations. Work under supervision to ensure quality, price, on-time delivery, and proper vendor treatment.

Responsibilities include reviewing contracts, assisting in bid evaluations, developing vendor lists, inviting bidders, and processing procurement for tools, parts, and services.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled full-time in a relevant bachelor’s or post-bachelor’s degree program.
  • Must have completed at least 30 credit hours toward current degree.
  • GPA of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Responsibilities

  • Review and prepare contracts and proposals for compliance with statutes and regulations.
  • Assist in evaluating bids and issuing purchase orders for approved awards.
  • Develop vendor lists and monitor vendor performance for contract requirements.
  • Issue invitations to eligible bidders and process bids for procurement of goods and services.
  • Assist in determining contract pricing accuracy and applicable credits or liquidated damages.

  • Review and prepare contracts and proposals of average difficulty for compliance with statutes, commission actions, regulations, policies, specifications, current labor laws, and minority laws.
  • Assist in evaluating and selecting bids, including notifying successful bidders and issuing purchase orders for bid and contract proposals for approved awards.
  • Develop vendor lists and monitor vendor performance related to statewide and district contract requirements.
  • Issue invitations to eligible bidders and processes bids for procurement of tools, parts, supplies, services, and maintenance materials.
  • Assist in determining whether contract pricing is accurate and asses applicable credits or liquidated damages when discrepancies are found.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Enrolled in a relevant bachelor’s or post-bachelor’s degree program full-time (12+ credit hours), such as Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, etc.
  • 30 credit hours completed/accepted toward current degree program. High school or other postsecondary program credits must be shown to be accepted by the current program through a degree transcript to apply.
  • Possess and maintain an overall GPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.0, or equivalent.
