Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company is offering a paid full-time hybrid summer position at our Cranberry Township location. We seek a student pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field who has completed at least the sophomore year.

You will support design and analysis work, perform analytical calculations, and learn software tools like Mathcad, Matlab, and ANSYS while collaborating with internal teams.

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Related Engineering field.
• Completed Sophomore year of college.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to component leads for design and analysis of reactor components.
• Perform analytical calculations and evaluations of reactor components using engineering tools; develop supporting documentation.
• Learn and apply software packages such as Mathcad, Matlab, ANSYS or equivalent; learn new packages quickly.
• Interface with internal groups to obtain information needed for work assignments.
• Plan and schedule work to meet assignment requirements.
• Evaluate and select engineering standards and procedures for development of design documents including calculations and specifications.

About The Role

You will be located at our Cranberry location. This is a paid full-time hybrid position for the summer.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to component leads for assigned work performed in the design and analysis of reactor components throughout various parts of the design process.
• Perform analytical calculations and evaluations of the reactor components using a variety of engineering tools and methods. Develop documentation related to these calculations and analyses.
• Skills utilizing Software Packages such as Mathcad, Matlab, ANSYS or equivalent and ability to learn other new packages quickly.
• Interfacing with other internal functional groups on similar engineering level to obtain information necessary to perform work assignments.
• Planning and scheduling work to meet assignment requirements.
• Ability to quickly learn to evaluate, select and utilize standards, techniques, procedures and criteria for development of engineering design documents including calculations and specifications.

• Completed Sophomore year of college.
