Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company seeks a Mechanical Engineer Intern to help evaluate mechanical components, drawings, and supplier documentation under experienced engineers in a paid hybrid role based in New Stanton, PA.

You will gain hands-on CAD and Excel data analysis experience, participate in design reviews and project meetings, and collaborate across engineering, procurement, quality, and manufacturing teams.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or an equivalent field.
• Completed sophomore year of college with a focus on mechanics or design.
• Basic understanding of engineering drawings and technical specifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers with technical evaluations of mechanical components, equipment, materials, and supplier documentation.
• Review engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical requirements.
• Support preparation and review of technical documentation, reports, calculations, and engineering evaluations.
• Assist with supplier and component evaluations, including review of technical submittals and manufacturing information.
• Perform basic engineering calculations and data analysis using tools such as Microsoft Excel.
• Support resolution of technical questions and documentation of engineering decisions.
• Work with engineering, procurement, quality, manufacturing, and supplier personnel on assigned projects.
• Participate in engineering meetings, design reviews, supplier discussions, and other project activities.

About the role:

The Mechanical Engineer Intern supports engineering activities associated with the evaluation, manufacturing, and procurement of mechanical components and equipment. Working under the guidance of experienced engineers, you will gain practical experience applying engineering principles to real-world technical and business challenges.

This is a paid hybrid position located in New Stanton, PA.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist engineers with technical evaluations of mechanical components, equipment, materials, and supplier documentation.
• Review engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical requirements.
