Job summary

Koch Fertilizer is seeking a 2027 Summer Instrumentation Technician Intern to join our Beatrice, Nebraska-based Maintenance team. This 12-week program runs from late May to mid-August 2027, offering hands-on experience with instrumentation calibration, diagnostics, and plant operations.

As an intern you will learn to read loop drawings and P&IDs, participate in planning meetings, and gain exposure to safety and reliability programs within a large agro/energy facility.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of a relevant degree, certificate, or workforce training program in Instrumentation, Industrial Maintenance, Automation & Robotics, HVAC, Electrician, or similar program.
• Eligible for full-time employment before or by May 2029.
• Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside a team of instrumentation technicians to support equipment reliability, maintenance, and plant operations.
• Assist with calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of process instrumentation, including transmitters, control valves, and analytical devices.
• Help diagnose equipment issues by collecting readings, performing testing, and partnering with operations to identify solutions.
• Participate in daily planning meetings, complete maintenance work orders, and document maintenance activities and calibration records.
• Learn to interpret technical documents, including loop drawings, instrument documentation, and P&ID s.
• Gain exposure to plant safety and reliability programs through activities such as Management of Change (MOC) reviews, equipment inspections, and field projects.
