Job summary

Metropolitan Family Service seeks an Educational Assistant to support the EKT Summer Program at West Powellhurst Elementary in Portland. You will help implement daily activities, support students, and assist teachers in a safe, engaging learning environment.

The role requires experience with elementary-age children, strong communication, teamwork, and a willingness to be adaptable during program dates August 10–20, Monday–Thursday, 8:30am–1:30pm. Criminal background check is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience in supporting a classroom setting.
  • Desire and ability to work with children.
  • Independent, self-motivated, creative and resourceful.
  • Excellent organization and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Cooperative, team-oriented mindset.
  • Willingness to ask questions for clarification and completion.
  • Must be 18 years or older and able to work in the United States.
  • Basic English proficiency and background check required.
  • Spanish, Russian, Cantonese, Mandarin, or Vietnamese speaking skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support daily activities and classroom management in the EKT Summer Program.
  • Assist teachers and manage student behavior to maintain a safe, inclusive environment.
  • Collaborate with SUN Site Manager and staff to meet student needs.
  • Engage children in learning activities and maintain a positive atmosphere.
