Job summary

Metropolitan Family Service seeks an Educational Assistant to support the EKT Summer Program at West Powellhurst Elementary in Portland. You will help implement daily activities, support students, and assist teachers in a safe, engaging learning environment.

The role requires experience with elementary-age children, strong communication, teamwork, and a willingness to be adaptable during program dates August 10–20, Monday–Thursday, 8:30am–1:30pm. Criminal background check is required.

Position Title: Instructional Assistant in the EKT Summer Program

Reports To: SUN Site Manager

Location: West Powellhurst Elementary

Dates:

Prep/Training Date TBD. Program Dates are August 10th-20th, Monday-Thursday 8:30am-1:30pm.

Position Overview

As an Educational Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting classroom activities, managing student behavior, and assisting teachers during the EKT Summer Program. This position involves creating a safe and engaging environment where children can learn and grow through various activities.

Key Responsibilities

You will assist in the implementation of daily activities, providing support to students in both classroom and recreational settings. This includes helping to manage student behavior, ensuring a positive and inclusive atmosphere, and actively participating in program activities. Strong communication skills are essential for collaborating with teachers, the SUN Site Manager, and other staff members to address student needs and ensure program effectiveness. Your enthusiasm, patience, and ability to connect with children will be crucial to fostering a supportive learning environment.

  • Basic English proficiency is required (must be able to read, write and speak English)
