Job summary

Washington National Insurance Company in Carmel, Indiana is seeking an HR Programs & Associate Experience Intern to assist in coordinating the 2027 Summer Internship Program and supporting the Associate Services team with projects, communications, and knowledge management.

The role requires onsite work in Carmel, with initial in-office presence during the first week and ongoing in-office participation at least one day per week throughout the summer.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in HR, Business, Communications, Marketing, Information Systems, or related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate events and activities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
• Interest in HR, communications, program management, or business operations.
• Curiosity about emerging technologies and AI tools.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary coordinator for the 2027 Summer Internship Program under leadership supervision.
• Assist with planning, scheduling, communication, and execution of intern program events and activities.
• Partner with interns, managers, and business leaders to support a positive internship experience.
• Track program milestones, feedback, attendance, and engagement activities.
• Create and update communications, presentations, and Associate-facing resources.
• Maintain knowledge articles, job aids, and other team resources.
• Analyze data and prepare reports, summaries, and presentations.
• Explore opportunities to leverage AI tools to enhance team effectiveness and the Associate experience.
• Support additional projects and initiatives as assigned.
