Responsibilities

  • Assist center office and maintain daily incident logs.
  • Handle phones and maintain accurate records.

Night Guardian

The MLA Night Guardian is a full-time, seasonal position (July through mid-August) with Move Language Ahead, which is the trade name for Go Languages Worldwideltd. in the UK and Study World Corporation in the US. As the Night Guardian, you would work under the direct supervision of the MLA Welfare Manager. You would be an essential part of our MLA team, hired tomonitorthe safety and well-being of international high school students attending a cultural immersion program six nights per week from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. and enforcing the MLAdesignatedquiet hours and curfew.

The Night Guardian is required to work six nights per week from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. to meet the demands of the program.

  • Candidates must have a High School degree or equivalent. Successful candidates will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a high-pressure environment. Candidates mustrepresentMLA Move LanguageAhead'svalues and model those values to subordinates and colleagues. Requiredadditionalskills include:

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary

  • Self-motivation

  • Ability to be pleasant, polite, and cooperative with fellow employees, vendors, and guests

  • Additionalpreferred qualifications:

  • First Aid certification

  • CPR/AED certification

  • The completion of a satisfactory background check isrequired. The completion of a child abuse clearance may berequired.


KeyPositionAccountabilities

Pre-Program


  • Attendallrequired,paid training/induction meetings prior to the start of a session.

  • Review campus policies and become knowledgeable with emergency procedures.

  • Complete any required training sessions/courses as directed.


Residence Hall Supervision


  • Conduct regular rounds of the residence hall(s) to ensure guests are respecting curfew and quiet hours.

  • Patrol andmonitorhallways, stairwells, outside facilities, and other public and unsupervised placesonthe campus to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff and the security of the facility.

  • Challenge unauthorized visitors and escort them to exits; report if necessary.

  • Liaise with campus Public Safety on matters of campus security and emergency management.

  • Conduct room inspections, as directed, to ensure rooms are keptclean,and emergency exits clear of obstructions.

  • Report maintenance issues to the Center Manager for reporting to the campus liaison(s).


Office Duties


  • Assiststaffatthecenteroffice as directed.

  • Complete daily incident log.

  • Answer phones and makeaccuraterecords of conversations and/or messages.

  • Assistthe center administration in making photocopies, running errands, preparing activities, etc.


Departure Day


  • Assistin the collection of residence hall keys and materials required by the campus.

  • Conduct room inspections, as directed, and report any damage to the Center Directorimmediately.


Compensation

The Night Guardian position will receive a wagecommensuratewith the successful candidate’s education and experience. Wages are $20 per hour.
