Job summary

The Office of Attorney General, Division of Criminal Investigation, is offering a Summer internship in the DCI Forensic Lab in Pierre, SD. Compensation starts at $19.09 per hour and is open to enrolled college, university, or technical institute students who will have completed at least one year of study by the internship start.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply.
• By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.
• Preference may be given to juniors/seniors, SD residents, and students of SD institutions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in cataloging evidence, chemicals, or other property for storage or disposal.
• Observe evidence collection and examination in various disciplines within the lab setting or in the field.
• Participate in training exercises, classes, or other laboratory projects as assigned.
• Assist lab staff in evaluating case information or data needed for strategic planning.
• Observe examiners in disciplines including firearms analysis, biology, fingerprint, or trace analysis.
