Job summary

Kiewit is offering a Summer 2027 Engineer Intern program in the Eastern District. The position involves hands-on construction management training across heavy civil projects, with relocation opportunities as needed.

Interns will participate in field engineering, planning, cost control, and collaboration with project teams. Eligible candidates are pursuing civil/electrical engineering or construction management degrees and must be able to travel and work full-time during the summer.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in civil or electrical engineering, construction management or related field.
• Ability to travel or relocate as needed.
• Full-time during the summer (approximately May-August).
• Willing to work in field environments and on construction sites.
• Strong work ethic and safety focus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; team oriented.

Responsibilities

• Field engineering, operation planning, cost control, project scheduling, quantity tracking, material procurement, contract administration, estimating and supervision of field activities.
• Performing engineering tasks requiring standard techniques and handling minor problems of a technical nature arising during construction.
• Maintaining records regarding job progress, costs, material usage, etc.
• Planning and scheduling of job and/or job segments.
• Investigating problems and proposing solutions as appropriate.
• Reviewing plans and specifications to determine material requirements and pricing.
