Job summary

Kiewit is seeking an Engineer Intern for the Eastern District Summer 2027 Intern Program. The role offers hands-on experience in construction management across heavy civil projects, requiring relocation as needed and a strong focus on safety and quality.

The internship targets undergrad or grad students in civil, electrical engineering, construction management or related fields, with opportunities to learn field engineering, cost control, scheduling, and coordination with suppliers.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in civil engineering, electrical engineering, construction management or related.
• Ability to travel or relocate as needed.
• Ability to work full-time during the summer (approx. May–August).
• Strong work ethic, ethics and integrity; commitment to safety.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Field engineering, operation planning, cost control, project scheduling, quantity tracking, material procurement, contract administration, estimating & supervision of field activities
• Performing engineering tasks requiring standard techniques and handling minor problems of a technical nature arising during construction
• Maintaining records regarding job progress, costs, material usage, etc.
• Planning and scheduling of job and/or job segments
• Investigating problems and/or incidents; identifying and recommending solutions/alternatives
• Reviewing plans and specifications to determine material requirements, pricing, etc.
• Working with suppliers to facilitate materials delivery
