Job summary

The Illinois Department of Transportation is seeking Seasonal Engineering Interns for District 3 in Ottawa, IL for the summer of 2027. Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Completion of high school or a GED.
• Minimum Qualifications: Current enrollment in a college engineering program.
• Preferred Qualifications: Understanding of design plans/blueprint reading and ability to perform technical computations in plan prep.
• Preferred Qualifications: Education in math to trig level.
• Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of materials testing and laboratory testing equipment.
• Preferred Qualifications: Ability to communicate effectively and follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Provides accurate designs, measurements, computations, and documentation.
• Keeps the Resident Engineer/Technician informed of problems or deviations.
• Ensures work performed complies with specifications.
• Performs duties in accordance with safety rules and fair treatment of all employees.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
