Job summary

The Illinois Department of Transportation is offering a Seasonal Engineering Intern position in District 2 for summer 2027. The program runs May 16 through August 15, with a hybrid schedule (in-office 1 to 5 days per week) and opportunities to work on design, measurements, and documentation.

Applicants should be currently enrolled in a college engineering program and possess a high school diploma or GED. A valid driver's license and ability to travel within the district are preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of high school or GED.
• Currently enrolled in a college engineering program.
• Preferred understanding of design plans/blueprint reading.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate designs, measurements, computations, and documentation.
• Keep the Resident Engineer/Technician informed of issues and deviations.
• Ensure work complies with specifications and safety rules.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
