Job summary

NiSource is seeking a Summer Design Engineering Intern for a 12-week program in Columbus, OH, starting May 2027. The intern will work under engineers, learning through hands-on projects and team collaboration while gaining exposure to electric and gas facility operations.

The role requires current enrollment in a four-year engineering program, with ABET accreditation, and the ability to work 40 hours per week. AutoCAD and MS Excel/Access skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Current student in an ABET-accredited four-year engineering program.
• Must have completed at least one year of undergraduate study.
• Ability to work 40 hrs/week.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and MS Excel & Access.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineering staff on projects to meet utility facility needs.
• Evaluate, design, estimate, and provide project management for electric and gas facilities.
• Create job order sketches using AutoCAD.
• Perform field measurements.
• Assemble data to create job order estimates.
