Job summary

NiSource is seeking a Summer Design Engineering Intern in Columbus, OH for a 12-week program starting May 2027. The intern will work under engineering staff guidance, supporting design, estimation, and project management for electric and gas facilities.

Must reside within 50 miles of Columbus and be able to work 40 hours per week. The role emphasizes effective communication, data analysis, and hands-on AutoCAD tasks, with safety as a core value and opportunities for professional development

Qualifications

• Current student in an ABET-accredited four-year engineering program.
• Must have completed at least one year of undergraduate study.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Assist with engineering projects under guidance of staff.
• Evaluate, design, estimate, and manage simple projects.
• Create job order sketches using AutoCAD.
• Perform field measurements at sites.
• Assemble data to create job order estimates.
• Support safety requirements and adhere to procedures.
• Collaborate with teammates and superiors on tasks.
• This internship starts in summer 2027 and runs 12 weeks.
