Job summary

NiSource is seeking a Summer Design Engineering Intern for a 12-week program starting in May 2027. Based in Columbus, OH, you will join a team of engineers, gain exposure to utility facilities, and contribute to project design and estimates while developing professional skills.

The role targets students in ABET-accredited four-year engineering programs, with at least one year completed, able to work 40 hours/week, and proficient in AutoCAD and MS Excel/Access.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited four-year engineering program student
• At least one year of undergraduate study completed
• Able to work 40 hours per week
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MS Excel & Access
• Proven communication skills
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Responsibilities

• Assist engineering staff on projects for utility facilities
• Evaluate, design, estimate, and provide project management for electric and gas facilities
• Create job order sketches using AutoCAD
• Perform field measurements
• Assemble data to create job order estimates
