Job summary

The Salvation Army Brooklyn Brownsville Corps is seeking a Program Specialist to run middle school activities, homework help, meals, and arts and crafts in a seasonal summer program. The role includes administrative duties, record keeping, and supporting the Program Director.

Responsibilities span leadership of program activities, coordinating daily tasks, and ensuring safety and well-being of children aged 10-13, with regional travel for field trips. Seasonal June 15 to August 21, 2026.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; Associates Degree preferred.
• At least 3 years of youth or camp programming experience.
• Experience leading students and families in devotions from the Bible preferred but not required.
• High energy and love of working with children.
• Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
• Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Attention to detail and follow-through.
• Ability to work independently with good judgment.
• Leadership experience in organized programming.
• Driver's license preferable.

Responsibilities

• Organize and supervise activities for ages 10-13.
• Lead program activities and coordinate daily assembly.
• Attend program leadership meetings and plan staff meetings.
• Provide health and safety oversight and report incidents.
• Support Program Director and Corps Officers as needed.
• Travel regionally for field trips with children.
• Seasonal summer day camp; 35 hours per week.
