Job description

The custodial helper assists with cleaning and maintaining campus buildings. This is a summer only position with an expected start date in May 2026. It is a part‑time hourly non‑benefits eligible position. The starting wage for this position is $16.94 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Prepares dorm rooms for summer occupants and guests.
• Restocks toilet paper, paper towels, and soap dispensers.
• Vacuums, dusts, mops floors, and spot washes walls. Dusts or vacuums furniture.
• Arranges classroom furniture, cleans chalkboards & whiteboards, restocks chalk, markers, and erasers.
• Cleans entrances and elevators. Sweeps outside steps and polices the outside perimeter of the building.
• Collects and removes all trash and recycling.
• Washes windows.
• Arranges furniture in social spaces/lounges.
• Supports the College’s Recycling program.
• Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from team liaisons and supervisors.
• Performs all duties in a safe and professional manner and in accordance with established departmental practices and procedures.
• Sets up and removes furniture and equipment for special events.
• Performs other duties as assigned to assist the department in obtaining and maintaining its mission.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., and push or pull up to 100 lbs.
• Must be able to lift 10‑20 lbs. frequently.
• Able to walk and climb stairs frequently.
• Must be able to carry supplies and equipment up and down stairs.
• Must be able to bend, squat and kneel frequently.
• Must be able to perform frequent over‑head reaching movements.
