Job summary

The ACLU of Virginia invites rising 2L/3L law students to join our legal team for a Summer Legal Internship in Richmond. You will work on civil liberties matters, conduct factual investigations, and assist with litigation support.

You will be embedded with staff attorneys, perform legal research, draft memoranda and correspondence, and may attend hearings or contribute to amicus briefs. The position is full-time for 11 weeks, paying $21 per hour, with potential academic credit.

Qualifications

• Rising 2L/3L law student with commitment to civil rights and liberties.
• Strong research, writing, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and pay attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal research and draft memoranda for staff attorneys.
• Draft correspondence to potential clients in response to complaints.
• Assist in development of cases for litigation and discovery, and prepare for trial.
