Job description

Camp ClapHans and J.D. McCarty are seeking a Camp Nurse for the summer. The role involves providing medical treatment, administering medication, monitoring patient progress, and educating families and patients. The ideal candidate is compassionate, proficient, and enjoys working with young people. This position offers valuable experience in the field of Intellectual Developmental Disabilities and includes a summer bonus.

Pay Rate: $26.00 per hour

Responsibilities:

1. Provide exceptional patient care, support patients' medical needs, and create care plans.
2. Maintain nurse stations, ensuring they are clean and stocked.
3. Manage camper medications during check-in, ensuring proper storage and documentation.
4. Observe campers and staff for illness or communicable diseases.
5. Administer medications and keep detailed medical logs.
6. Assess and respond to health issues among campers and staff.
7. Follow safety and infection control protocols, including proper lifting techniques and emergency procedures.
8. Ensure medication return during camper check-out.
9. Attend off-campus trips to provide nursing care as needed.

Requirements:

• Degree in Nursing with current RN or LPN license for Oklahoma.
• At least six months of recent medical experience.
• Ability to stand or sit for long periods, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• CPR certification.
• Background check and drug test clearance.

Coverage is needed for the Summer Camp 2025 sessions on June 22-25, June 29-July 2, and July 13-16. Camp is for children with disabilities aged 8-18, located on the McCarty Center campus near an 11-acre lake, offering activities like archery, arts and crafts, canoeing, fishing, horseback riding, talent shows, and swimming.

Staff includes Camp Counselors, Leaders, therapists, and Nurses, with a counselor-to-camper ratio of 1:1. Prior training will be provided. The camp values staff with interests in health care, education, outdoor recreation, and nutrition.
