Job summary

Camp health services team is seeking a Health Services Associate to provide daily medical care at a residential summer camp. You will manage medications, respond to injuries, and coordinate with families and local medical providers while living on-site with the campers.

The role offers hands-on pediatric clinical experience, emphasis on safety, documentation, and compassionate care in a faith-based camp setting. Housing and meals are provided.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Spend your summer caring for a community of campers and staff. As a Health Services Associate, you'll run daily medical care, manage medications, respond to injuries and illness, and be the person families trust with their kid's wellbeing while they're here.

What You'll Do

• Lead and support summer health staff in daily medical care
• Manage camper and staff medications, including intake, storage, and administration
• Provide first aid and assess illness and injuries, referring to a physician as needed
• Maintain detailed health records and treatment logs
• Communicate with camper families regarding medical concerns and treatment
• Coordinate with local physicians, pharmacies, and hospitals
• Transport patients to clinics or emergency rooms when needed
• Monitor and manage community health needs across camp
• Maintain a fully stocked infirmary and first aid kits camp-wide
• Offer emotional and spiritual support through prayer when appropriate

Important Role Details

• This is a live-in, residential role
• Includes on-call responsibility outside scheduled hours

Requirements

What We're Looking For

• A professing Christian with a personal faith
• One of the following current Wisconsin licenses or certifications: physician, physician assistant, RN, LPN, state-licensed or state-certified EMT, paramedic, or First Responder; or sophomore-level or higher nursing student working under RN supervision
• Prior hospital, field, or first-aid experience
• Sound clinical judgment and the ability to stay calm in an emergency
• Basic computer skills and the ability to work in a health records database
• Strong documentation habits and attention to detail
• Comfortable communicating with parents about their child's health
• Willingness to be fully engaged in a live-in summer camp environment

Physical Requirements

• Able to respond quickly to incidents across camp property, including outdoor and uneven terrain
• Able to lift and assist patients as needed
• Valid driver's license and able to transport patients to off-site care

Summer Schedule

• Staff Training: June 1 – June 12
• Camp Sessions: June 13 – August 7

Why This Role Matters

You’ll be the one a homesick nine-year-old comes to at 2 a.m. You’ll be who a camper sees after they come off the challenge course with a scraped knee, and the person who makes sure the kid with a daily medication never misses a dose or feels singled out for needing one.
