Summer Camp Guitar Instructor (Music Conservatory) - Camp Grandview Jasper, GA

Location: Camp Grandview, Jasper Georgia (Music Conservatory)

Position: Summer Camp Guitar Instructor (Music Conservatory)

Position Type: Overnight Residential - Temporary Full-Time

Pay Rate: 350.00 weekly

About this opportunity:

Plans, coordinates and directs the functions of the Conservatory Guitar program; ensures the quality of programs and safety of youth at all times; provides guidance and role modeling to youth and ensures safety and a positive experience for campers.

Key responsibilities:

1. Guides the work of music instruction in helping children and youth to succeed in school by increasing their involvement and motivation; and helping them to set personal goals.
2. Provides training and development of camper for music instruction.
3. Provides appropriate lessons for instruction time.
4. Reviews assigned homework with students and re-teach skills if necessary.
5. Prepares students for recitals and presentations.
6. Supervises the maintenance and daily operations of the program equipment.
7. Recommends and develops activities which will develop creative abilities, motor and learning skills of students.
8. Coordinates the program and activity with the policies and operating procedures of camp.
9. Maintains discipline and acceptable behaviors of students, which will create an atmosphere of friendliness and security during all program periods.
10. Supervises and organizes an assigned group of campers during scheduled and unscheduled blocks of time in cooperation with camp rules and regulations.
11. Promotes and stimulates participation of campers to ensure a pleasant camp experience.
12. Participates and assists in various classes as assigned.
13. Schedules performances and ensures that all necessary supplies for a performance are donated or purchased.
14. Participates enthusiastically as a member of the camp staff team to deliver and supervise evening programs, special events, overnights and other all-camp activities and camp functions.
15. Sits with camper tables during meals and serve as a table monitor when needed.
16. Keeps personal living quarters neat, clean and ready for inspection.
17. Be available to participate and assist with camp programs and activities as directed by the Conservatory Director.
18. Performs other duties as assigned.
19. Perform as necessary ministry functions such as presenting approved devotional material to campers, praying with campers, or leading in Christian songs, etc.

What we are looking for in you:

1. Six months experience teaching music education with emphasis in guitar, with the ability to play and teach lessons in a classroom setting involving more than one student preferred, or
2. Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Licenses and Certifications:

• CPR and First Aid Certification

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Some physical requirements of the Camp Guitar Instructor position could be endurance including climbing, standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate equipment and activities are required. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Have a willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours delivering a program in the facility available. Operate with daily exposure to the sun and heat and varying environmental conditions.

Additional Information:

Camp Staff Orientation will be held June 9 – 15, 2025, and participation is required. The 2025 summer Camp program session will be held June 16 - July 19, 2025. If you are unable to work the entire session, please let us know on your application.
