Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Central Territory is seeking a temporary child care supervisor for a summer program. The position runs June 2 to August 18, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, at $12 per hour, in Huron, SD.

Responsibilities include assisting the program director, preparing activities, serving meals, supervising children, and daily clean-up. Applicants should have at least one year of experience with school-age children, be able to drive as part of the role, and complete Safe from

7. All other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

At least 1 year working with school age children. Being fluent in Spanish is preferred, but not a requirement.

Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.

1. Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
2. The ability to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.
3. Good communication skills both written and spoken, to assist in building a relationship with the children and their parent/guardian.
4. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.

Other Qualifications:

Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.

The work environment will be moderate to loud at times.

Must be able to frequently be in the sun and/or outside in varying weather conditions.
