Job summary

MISO is offering a 2027 Summer Internship in Internal Audit in Carmel, IN. This paid internship provides meaningful, high-impact projects, mentorship, and cross-department exposure to strengthen internal controls and risk mitigation.

You will present your findings at summer's end and gain hands-on experience in SOX and Entity Level audits. Applicants are pursuing degrees in Accounting/Finance, Business Administration, Data Analytics or related fields and must be available June–August 2027.

Qualifications

• Pursuing degrees in Accounting/Finance, Business/Business Administration or Data Analytics/Data Science.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Take on meaningful, high‑impact projects in Internal Audit—performing control testing, evaluating business processes, documenting audit evidence, and contributing to risk mitigation and compliance (including Entity Level and Sarbanes‑Oxley audit exposure).
• Work side‑by‑side with your manager and mentor and connect with a cross‑departmental buddy to expand your network and understand how different teams support MISO’s mission.
• Learn from industry experts during interactive lunch & learn sessions.
• Attend community service events, intern socials, networking activities, and development programming to help you grow your confidence, build relationships, and understand MISO’s broader mission.
• Wrap up the summer with a final presentation summarizing your project work, recommendations, and areas of impact.
