Job summary

DIRECTV invites a Summer Intern to join the Business Product Development team in Clarksburg, MD, for a 10-week hands-on experience. You will work on AI/ML problems to enhance the customer experience, developing tools to analyze live and recorded video content.

Requirements include pursuing a four-year degree in AI/CS/DS, strong Python and ML ecosystem skills, and ability to work on data pipelines, model development, and evaluation. The role is 3–5 days per week in the MD office.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a four-year undergraduate or advanced degree in AI, CS, Software Engineering, IT, or Data Science.
• Proficiency in Python and its ML ecosystem (NumPy and pandas).
• Must be able to write reproducible training and evaluation scripts.
• Assist in selecting ML approaches based on problem type and data availability.
• Support end-to-end model development lifecycle from data collection to validation.
• Build and benchmark baseline models in Python (linear regression, decision trees, SVM).
• Experience with Linux/Android, Claude Code and OpenAI API.

Responsibilities

• Develop AI/ML tools for real-world problems.
• Contribute to AI-powered media intelligence platform development.
• Work with video metadata, captions, transcriptions, and AI/ML models for topics and search.
• Evaluate models, build data-processing pipelines, and prototype tools/dashboards.
• Prototype deep learning architectures (CNNs, RNNs, Transformers) using PyTorch or TensorFlow.
