Job summary

WEX Inc. invites motivated graduates to join the Data, AI, and Risk Technology (DART) team as a Summer Intern.

You will work on AI/ML applications, big data, fraud and credit risk technologies alongside experienced engineers and researchers to tackle real-world challenges. You will gain hands‑on experience in developing AI/ML models, data processing, and deploying solutions while collaborating with a dynamic team.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Software Engineering, or related field and have completed at least sophomore year.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Java, Go, automated testing, and system monitoring.
• Data-driven mindset with data analysis, manipulation and visualization experience.
• Interest in robust design solutions for small to medium-scale problems or components.
• Solid understanding of machine learning algorithms and AI/ML best practices.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; self-driven learner.
• Passion for innovation and cloud technologies including big data, AI/ML, risk analysis, and cloud infra.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to impactful projects addressing fraud, risk, and data-driven decisions.
• Design and implement moderately complex data ingestion pipelines.
• Contribute to batch and streaming ingestion with scalable architectures.
• Work with big data tools for ingestion, processing and analysis.
• Collaborate with engineers and researchers to brainstorm solutions.
• Present research findings and project outcomes to team members.
