Job summary

ON Semiconductor Corporation is seeking a Central Utility Plant Engineering Intern to support the Facilities Engineering team in maintaining commercial semiconductor production utility systems. You will assist with reliability initiatives, energy conservation projects, and capital project execution in a 24/7 manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in one of the specified fields.

Responsibilities

  • Support Central Utility Plant equipment monitoring and reliability analysis.
  • Assist with troubleshooting utility system issues and propose corrective actions.
  • Analyze data and generate reports to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Participate in energy conservation and sustainability initiatives.
  • Assist in PM optimization through CMMS data analysis and field verification.
  • Support in developing engineering drawings, procedures, and documentation.

The Central Utility Plant (CUP) Engineering Intern will support the Facilities Engineering team in maintaining and improving critical utility systems that support semiconductor manufacturing operations. This role provides hands-on experience with industrial utility systems including chilled water, cooling towers, boilers, compressed air, vacuum systems, process water, wastewater treatment, and electrical distribution systems.

The intern will assist engineers with reliability initiatives, energy conservation projects, preventive maintenance optimization, system performance analysis, and capital project execution while gaining exposure to engineering practices within a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Support daily monitoring and analysis of Central Utility Plant equipment performance and reliability.
  • Assist with troubleshooting utility system issues and developing corrective action recommendations.
  • Analyze operational data and develop reports to identify trends, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in energy conservation and sustainability initiatives.
  • Support preventive maintenance (PM) optimization efforts through CMMS data analysis and field verification.
  • Assist in the development and revision of engineering drawings, procedures, and controlled documentation.
  • Participate in equipment inspections, audits, and reliability assessments.
  • Support capital improvement and infrastructure upgrade projects from planning through execution.
  • Develop and maintain engineering spreadsheets, dashboards, and performance metrics.
  • Assist with utility consumption tracking and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Participate in safety programs, risk assessments, and pre-task planning activities.
  • Work closely with operations, maintenance technicians, contractors, and engineering staff to support manufacturing objectives.
