Job summary

At MFS, a premier investment management firm with a rich history, the Legal Summer Intern role offers hands-on exposure within the legal function of a global asset manager.

The 10-12 week program runs June 9, 2027 to August 13, 2027, with 35-40 hours per week, paid hourly at $33. Interns contribute to drafting/review of governance documents, agreements, regulatory filings, and investigations while engaging in structured activities and leadership sessions.

Qualifications

• J.D. candidate with at least one full year of study at an ABA-accredited law school.
• Course work in business organizations and securities law or comparable experience preferred.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion in pursuing a legal career.
• Strong legal research and writing skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Research issues under laws applicable to asset management, employment, privacy, cybersecurity, and governance.
• Draft/review organizational documents: articles of incorporation, bylaws, operating agreements, minutes, resolutions.
• Draft/review investment-related agreements and amendments (advisory, distribution, fund agreements).
• Assist with regulatory filings, including forms ADV/BD and prospectuses.
• Assist with litigation/regulatory investigations and coordination of pleadings and motions.
• Prepare meeting materials and coordinate internal committee meetings.
• Attend meetings to learn about legal topics and projects.
