Job summary

Job Summary

Conduct investigative and intelligence research into suspected insurance fraud involving auto, property, casualty, workers’ compensation, and other lines of business. Collaborate with the SIU investigative staff, internal stakeholders, and external partners to evaluate and investigate suspicious insurance transactions (claims, underwriting, policy, etc.), identify red flags, gather facts, collect evidence, support fraud detection programs, and communicate investigative research findings to SIU, Claims, and other internal stakeholders.

Work Location

This position is an in-office role located in West Bend, WI. No remote opportunities for this position are available at this time.

As aClaims Specialist - Special Investigations Unit (SIU) Intern, you'll work alongside experienced investigators to research suspicious claims, uncover critical facts, and help identify potential fraud across multiple lines of business.

This isn't a typical desk internship. You'll analyze information, investigate red flags, gather evidence, and contribute to real-world cases that protect both our organization and our customers.

What You'll Be Doing

Investigate suspicious activity

• Conduct research and intelligence gathering related to potential insurance fraud.
• Review claims, policy, underwriting, and other transactions to identify fraud indicators.

Connect the pieces

• Analyze facts, spot patterns, and uncover inconsistencies.
• Evaluate evidence and help build investigative case files.

Collaborate with experts

• Partner with SIU investigators, Claims professionals, and internal business partners.
• Work with external resources and investigative databases to support ongoing inquiries.

Turn research into action

• Document findings and communicate investigative insights.
• Support fraud detection initiatives and special projects designed to strengthen fraud prevention efforts.
