Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Engineering, Public Health, Sustainability, Chemistry, Biology, or related field.
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university with an expected graduation date after the internship.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to communicate with employees at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams).
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Interest in workplace safety, environmental management and sustainability.

  • Assist in developing EHS tools, communications, training materials, and digital resources.
  • Analyze EHS performance data and prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations.
  • Support environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, and waste management programs.
  • Lead or contribute to a capstone project addressing significant EHS improvements and present to site leadership.

Job description

Job Title: Summer 2027 Intern-EHS Intern Summary: The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Intern will support the Pearl River EHS Manager in advancing workplace safety, environmental stewardship, and compliance programs across the site. Working closely with business partners, the intern will gain hands‑on experience in areas such as risk assessment, incident prevention, industrial hygiene, sustainability initiatives, regulatory compliance, and employee engagement. Through project‑based assignments and field observations, the intern will contribute to the identification and implementation of practical solutions that enhance safety performance, strengthen environmental programs, and promote a culture of continuous improvement. This internship provides an opportunity to develop technical EHS knowledge while making meaningful contributions to the site's operational excellence and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support EHS compliance activities by assisting with inspections, audits, program assessments, and regulatory reviews.
  • Conduct gap analyses of EHS programs and management systems to identify opportunities for improvement and alignment with corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in workplace safety evaluations, hazard identification activities and risk assessments.
  • Support industrial hygiene and occupational health initiatives, including exposure monitoring, ergonomic assessments, and workplace evaluations.
  • Contribute to the improvement of Hazard Communication programs, including chemical inventories, Safety Data Sheet (SDS) management, labeling systems, and employee awareness efforts.
  • Review and update EHS policies, procedures, and guidance documents to improve usability, accessibility, and searchability for employees.
  • Assist in developing employee‑friendly EHS tools, communications, training materials, and digital resources.
  • Analyze EHS performance data and prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations to support decision‑making and continuous improvement.
  • Support environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, and waste management programs.
  • Conduct field observations and engage with colleagues to promote safe behaviors and strengthen the site's safety culture.
  • Support emergency preparedness activities, drills, and business continuity initiatives.
  • Lead or contribute to a capstone project addressing a significant EHS improvement opportunity and present recommendations to site leadership.
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Engineering, Public Health, Sustainability, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.

  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Demonstrated interest in workplace safety, environmental management, sustainability, or occupational health.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a cross‑functional team environment.
  • Comfortable working in laboratory, office, manufacturing, pilot plant, and field environments.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
Program Minimum Qualifications
  • The candidate must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at the time of application and for at least one semester following the conclusion of the internship.
  • The candidate is expected to be available 40 hours a week for a period of 10-12 weeks between the months of May and August.
