Job summary

HDR is seeking a Summer 2027 Environmental Intern to join our Environmental team in supporting fieldwork, data analysis, and reporting for civil engineering projects.

The role provides hands-on experience in environmental compliance, permitting, and sustainability practices, including field sampling, regulatory research, and collaboration with engineers and scientists to develop sustainable design solutions.

Responsibilities

• Assist in environmental site assessments and field investigations, including soil, water, and air sampling.
• Support preparation of environmental reports, including Phase I/II ESA, wetland delineations, and habitat assessments.
• Collect and organize data for regulatory compliance (e.g., stormwater, erosion control, endangered species).
• Help with GIS mapping and spatial analysis for environmental constraints.
• Participate in construction site inspections to ensure adherence to environmental regulations.
• Research local, state, and federal environmental regulations relevant to civil engineering projects.
• Collaborate with engineers and scientists on sustainable design solutions.
