Job summary

Voya Financial in the United States is offering an actuarial internship that provides a robust corporate experience working closely with your manager as a core team member. You’ll perform actuarial tasks of a mathematical nature, assist with data compilation, and contribute to rate filings and financial statements while developing analytical problem-solving and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or Graduate students with an anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or later in a field such as Data Analytics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Risk Management or Computer Science and a GPA of 3.2 or above.
  • Technical experience with Excel and Visual Basic, Microsoft Access and SQL, or Python.
  • Knowledge of finance, insurance industry, investment, or actuarial fields.
  • Understanding of insurance products and operations.
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform actuarial tasks which are mathematical and/or higher clerical in nature.
  • Compile and categorize data, documenting and verifying factors used in computations (loss and expense reserves, rate filings, schedules of statistics, financial statements, premiums, benefits, pricing).
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Actuarial interns will have a robust and rich corporate experience working closely with their manager and as an integral member of their assigned team.

The Contributions You’ll Make

Actuarial interns will perform some (but may not perform all) of the functions below:

  • Perform actuarial tasks which are of a mathematical and/or higher clerical nature
  • Compile and categorize data, documenting and verifying factors used in computations, such as those used in evaluating loss and expense reserves, preparing rate filings, schedules of statistics, financial statements, premiums, benefits and establishing rating and pricing levels
  • Other duties and projects as assigned
Preferred Knowledge & Experience
  • Undergraduate or Graduate students with an anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or later with a degree based in a field such as Data Analytics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Risk Management or Computer Science and a GPA of 3.2 or above.
  • Technical experience with any of the following platforms is a plus: Microsoft Excel and Visual Basic, Microsoft Access and SQL, or Python
  • Knowledge of finance, insurance industry, investment, or actuarial fields.
  • Understanding of insurance products and operations.
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical problem-solving skills.
Compensation Pay Disclosure

Voya is committed to pay that’s fair and equitable, which means comparable pay for comparable roles and responsibilities.

The below annual base salary range reflects the expected hiring range(s) for this position in the location(s) listed. In addition to base salary, Voya offers incentive opportunities (i.e., annual cash incentives, sales incentives, and/or long-term incentives) based on the role to reward the achievement of annual performance objectives. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Voya Financial is willing to pay at the time of this posting.

Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted salary range based upon the candidate’s geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

$17 - $21 USD
