Job summary

Halff is seeking a Survey Crew Chief II to lead a two- to three-person field crew in Orlando or Tampa, FL. You will perform field surveys for land development and infrastructure using conventional, GPS, or TLS methods, ensuring accuracy and safety.

Requirements include 3+ years as a Crew Chief on relevant surveys, experience with Trimble GPS or conventional equipment, and a valid Florida driver's license. Local travel to project sites is expected.

Qualifications

• 3+ years as a Crew Chief on topographic, design, ALTA and boundary surveys.
• FDOT experience is a plus.
• Operate Trimble GPS and/or Conventional surveying equipment.
• Valid Florida Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Lead a 2-3 person survey field crew to perform field surveys using conventional, GPS, or terrestrial laser scanning methods.
• Locate and mark underground utilities with SUE equipment as required.
• Adhere to Halff and client safety standards and ensure accuracy.
• Arrive at work by 7:00am; overtime and weekend work may be needed.

Job description

SUE / Survey Crew Chief II - Orlando or Tampa, FL

This position entails leading a two-or-three-person surveyor field crew to accurately and efficiently perform field surveys of SUE marks and in support of land development, transportation, utility, energy, and land surveying projects using conventional, GPS, or terrestrial laser scanning methodology.

What You Will Need

• 3+ years of experience as a Crew Chief performing topographic surveys, design surveys, ALTA and boundary surveys. FDOT experience is a plus.
• Hands‑on experience with Trimble GPS and/or Conventional equipment, preferred.
• Operate various SUE electromagnetics locating equipment, to locate and mark underground utilities within prescribed accuracy limits is a plus.
• Must have a valid Florida Driver's License.
• Possess a meticulous attention to detail and keen eye to promote and ensure accuracy. There is minimal room for error in this position.
• Exceptional capacity to grasp new learning material.
• Strong willingness to comply with specific instructions that may be provided in different methods of communication.
• Proficient in modern means of communication and effective use of smart portable devices.
• Adhere to Halff and client safety standards while performing field duties.
• High level of dependability, discipline, and responsibility to be a positive representative for Halff and remain punctual on a consistent basis.
• Must be able to arrive at work beginning at 7:00am, Monday through Friday.
• Overtime and weekend work may be needed to meet project deadlines.
• Ability to pass a drug and background screen.
• Candidate must be local or within reasonable proximity to the Orlando or Tampa area.

Physical Requirements

• Excellent physical condition to perform field work, outdoors, in various conditions including extreme heat, cold and wind.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to travel to various project sites.
• Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
