Job summary

T. Baker Smith is seeking an entry-level Field Technician for Subsurface Utilities (SUE) in a field role. You will work with a project team using the latest placement, designation and vacuum excavation equipment to locate underground utilities.

Responsibilities include equipment operation, data documentation, and coordinating with utility representatives in an outdoor, real-world setting. Ideal candidates have basic computer skills and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform physical movements and operate heavy tools.
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn new software.
• Ability to operate surveying instruments, boats, GPS and field equipment.
• Attention to detail and excellent interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with the Project Manager, project team, and client field representative.
• Selects and applies geophysical prospecting equipment to designate underground utilities.
• Operate a vacuum excavation truck and perform test holes to expose utilities.
• Complete documentation and record-keeping.
