Job summary

The Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation is the leading nonprofit addiction treatment provider in the United States. We hire dedicated Substance Use Disorder Counselors to deliver care within a multidisciplinary treatment team and to guide students and interns in clinical practice.

Counselor 1 duties include delivering SUD treatment, maintaining standards of care, and ensuring communication with internal and external resources while protecting patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required for Counselor 1; degree in addiction counseling or equivalent preferred.
• Active Substance Use Disorder certification or license in the working state (MN: LADC).
• Proficiency with technology and computer skills to document in an electronic health record, attend virtual meetings, and manage emails/calendars.
• Current CPR certification or obtain within 30 days (remote employees exempt); CPR certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• Must satisfactorily pass a state/license background check.
• Counselor 2 requires a Master’s degree and same certification/licensure requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical services with treatment team per standards of care.
• Provide clinical coaching to students/interns to develop competency and ethics.
• Manage a caseload and collaborate with team; support supervision.
• Facilitate communication of patient information per policies and federal/privacy laws.
• Support ongoing professional development and DEI initiatives.
