The Office of Academic Multicultural Initiatives (OAMI) supports and celebrates students' unique experiences, backgrounds, communities, and identities. Through a variety of programs, events, and campus-wide collaborations, we provide holistic support to help students achieve their academic ambitions while developing the skills and perspectives necessary for success in college and beyond. These initiatives support U-M's ongoing commitment to nurturing an intellectually and culturally diverse campus. This is accomplished through direct student service delivery that incorporates success coaching, peer mentorship, individual and student organization advising, student leadership development, and grant funding for student organizations and initiatives to promote academic and multicultural programming.
OAMI also leads key university-wide multicultural programs, including the Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Symposium, the Native American Student Association Powwow, gateway services for first-generation and DACA/undocumented students, and the coordination of eight annual cultural graduation celebration ceremonies.

In addition to direct student support, the Program Coordinator provides support for workshops and other educational programming, contributes to curriculum enhancements, and participates in the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of initiatives that advance student success. The position contributes to the program's connections with campus partners to strengthen student support networks and participates in processes related to the support of program operations, evaluation, and strategic initiatives.
