Job summary

The University of Michigan is seeking a SuccessConnects Program Coordinator to support undergraduate students through holistic coaching, curriculum guidance, and resource connections. Who We Are

The Office of Academic Multicultural Initiatives (OAMI) supports and celebrates students' unique experiences, backgrounds, communities, and identities. Through a variety of programs, events, and campus-wide collaborations, we provide holistic support to help students achieve their academic ambitions while developing the skills and perspectives necessary for success in college and beyond. These initiatives support U-M's ongoing commitment to nurturing an intellectually and culturally diverse campus. This is accomplished through direct student service delivery that incorporates success coaching, peer mentorship, individual and student organization advising, student leadership development, and grant funding for student organizations and initiatives to promote academic and multicultural programming.

OAMI also leads key university-wide multicultural programs, including the Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Symposium, the Native American Student Association Powwow, gateway services for first-generation and DACA/undocumented students, and the coordination of eight annual cultural graduation celebration ceremonies.

Job Summary

The SuccessConnects Program Coordinator serves as a key contributor to student success as part of the SuccessConnect program, providing holistic, strengths-based support that promotes undergraduate student success, retention, and engagement. Through one-on-one success coaching, the coordinator guides students in their transition to the university, helping them navigate academic, personal, and professional development while connecting them to resources and opportunities that enhance their educational experience. In addition to direct student support, the Program Coordinator provides support for workshops and other educational programming, contributes to curriculum enhancements, and participates in the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of initiatives that advance student success. The position contributes to the program's connections with campus partners to strengthen student support networks and participates in processes related to the support of program operations, evaluation, and strategic initiatives. You will report to the Associate Director of OAMI. You will work a hybrid role in Ann Arbor.

What You'll Do
Student Success Coaching
  • Provide holistic coaching services to enrolled students in the SuccessConnects program; provide assistance to students to ensure their academic, personal and professional success
  • Meet one-on-one as well as in group settings with students to provide advice and counsel on curriculum-specific themes
  • Analyze, compare, and evaluate various courses of action for students within the scope of responsibilities and refer students to appropriate university resources as needed
  • Accept and act on referrals to support student needs and conduct follow-up on the utilization of resources
  • Follow program evaluation protocols to assess the effectiveness and impact of services on students and the university community.
  • Assist in the development of curricular content and participate in workshop presentations that support the growth and achievement of participants and address interests, challenges, knowledge, and experiences related to the overall success
  • Coordinate opportunities to build community and a supportive network of scholars
  • Identify and coordinate resources, experiential learning opportunities, and resource connections to enhance student awareness and preparation for collegiate and post-baccalaureate opportunities.
  • Maintain student participation and engagement documentation and data files
  • Use theoretical practices for leadership development around
  • Manage, communicate, track and analyze elements related to student progress, involvement, and participation via CRM tools
Administrative and Program Development
  • Participate in regular staff and team meetings and contribute to program enhancements as needed
  • Contribute to processes that support comprehensive program evaluation
  • Develop documentation and resource acquisition to curate knowledge, opportunities, and resources to enhance program development, implementation, and outcomesContribute to the success of OAMI programs, activities, and events by providing support for planning and implementation as needed
Required Qualifications*
  • Bachelor's degree and at least two years of experience in college student service.
