Job summary

Hermeus is seeking a Test Engineering Intern to develop, build, analyze and operate test assets for our supersonic vehicles. This role spans hydraulic, fuel, mechanisms, high-voltage, and airframe subsystems in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

The internship runs for Spring around 16 weeks and Summer around 12 weeks, with opportunities to contribute to test plans, fixture design, and data analysis across multiple vehicle systems.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a STEM program at an accredited college or university (undergraduate in year 3 or 4, or enrolled in a Master’s/PhD).
• GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Strong interest in testing and aviation.
• Strong understanding of engineering first principles.
• Demonstrated ability to work within cross-functional teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the design, development, manufacturing, implementation, and maintenance of test assets, including test facilities, fixtures, rigs, and supporting hardware.
• Design test fixtures, tooling, adapters, interfaces, panels, and other hardware used in test setups.
• Assist in developing test plans, procedures, and protocols for vehicle subsystems and components.
• Perform engineering analysis to determine target test points, instrumentation requirements, and safety margins.
• Support test design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on test requirements and execution.
• Create CAD models, drawings, and manufacturing plans for test components and flight-like hardware.
• Work with manufacturing and build teams to track hardware progress and troubleshoot issues.
• Assist with operation and troubleshooting of fluid, mechanical, and electrical test systems.
• Support test execution, data collection, and troubleshooting of test hardware and systems.
• Maintain detailed documentation of test configurations, results, and hardware changes.
• Identify opportunities to improve testing processes, hardware, and infrastructure.
