Job summary

Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. (Con Edison) seeks a General Utility Worker NX L3 for Staten Island Subsurface Construction.

You will assist with underground electrical cable works, installations, removals, testing, and services replacement to support the electric distribution system. The role requires a High School Diploma/GED with construction experience, a valid Driver's License, and willingness to pass a DOT medical exam, random drug testing, and a CDL within the first year.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED and construction experience are required.
• Experience in masonry or road work trades preferred.
• Driver's License is required.

Responsibilities

• Support senior Electric Operations staff with subsurface utility work, including excavation, conduit/vault installation, and confined-space tasks.
• Ensure safe working conditions and compliance with safety standards and permits.
• Provide customer service and maintain a professional company impression.
• Pass a DOT physical exam and maintain a current medical certificate; participate in random drug testing.
• Operate heavy equipment and tools such as jackhammers and Skill Saws.
• Pass a PAT (Physical Abilities Test) and obtain CDL within the first year.
• Be able to wear PPE and work shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
