Job summary

Penhall Company seeks a Subsurface Specialist to perform subsurface investigations using GPR and related technologies while also expanding client relationships. 90% travel across the state and beyond may be required, with evenings and weekends as needed.

The role blends fieldwork and business development; success depends on technical accuracy, consultative selling, and strong client communication to grow revenue and partnerships.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; GPR certification preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in GPR or construction scanning preferred.
• Prior sales or customer-facing experience in construction or industrial services is a strong plus.
• Proven field experience with underground utility location and mapping investigations.
• Strong interpersonal skills and sales experience.
• Self-starter with ability to manage time independently.
• Ability to identify client needs and recommend appropriate services.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Report writing and technical documentation ability.
• Basic sales aptitude and comfort with customer follow-up.

Responsibilities

• Perform subsurface investigations using GPR and EM pipe location technologies.
• Deliver on-site solutions, mark-outs, and reports aligned with safety standards.
• Engage clients before, during, and after field services to ensure quality data capture.
• Pursue new business opportunities via office visits, site visits, and networking.
• Collaborate with regional BD, account managers and branch leadership for cross-selling.
• Deliver custom quotes, proposals, and pricing negotiations.
• Engage with clients as a subject matter expert and solution provider.
• Coordinate sales efforts with Branch operations to ensure cohesive delivery.
• Document client interactions, leads, and opportunities in the CRM.
