Job summary

Rome City School District is seeking dependable substitutes to join our team as Substitute Teachers. Openings across Elementary, Middle, and High School levels allow you to help students when their regular teacher is absent.

Responsibilities include following lesson plans, maintaining a positive classroom climate, and adapting to various subjects and grade levels. Teaching certification is preferred but not required, and fingerprint/background checks are mandatory.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or at least 60 college credit hours.
• Experience working with children or youth, classroom experience, coaching, mentoring, tutoring, or related experience is preferred.
• Teaching certification is preferred but not required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and classroom management skills.
• Ability to adapt quickly and work independently in a variety of educational environments.
• Must pass fingerprinting and background clearance prior to employment.

• Follow lesson plans, classroom routines and instructions provided by the regular teacher.
• Provide meaningful learning activities that support instructional objectives.
• Create a positive, respectful, and productive classroom environment.
• Use sound judgment and flexibility when lesson plans or instructions are unavailable.
• Maintain a safe and supportive environment for all students.
• Take accurate attendance and follow district procedures.
• Leave notes for the regular teacher regarding activities and student progress.
• Adapt to different grade levels, subjects, classrooms, and school buildings.

Substitute Teacher opportunities are available across Elementary, Middle, and High School grade levels and a variety of subject areas.

Substitute Teacher Rates:

$164.49 per day for a 6-hour assignment

$143.26per day for a 6-hour assignment

Flexible Assignment Opportunities
