A SLAM Substitute Teacher is responsible for maintaining continuity of instruction in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. This role involves implementing lesson plans, managing classroom behavior, and creating a safe, productive learning environment for students across various grade levels and subject areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to deliver instruction effectively
- Maintain classroom order and implement school behavior policies
- Take attendance and complete required documentation
- Adapt instruction as needed to meet student needs and classroom dynamics
- Supervise students in the classroom, hallways, cafeteria, and during other school activities
- Communicate with school staff regarding any issues or concerns that arise
- Provide feedback to the regular teacher regarding student progress and classroom activities
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students at all times
- Uphold school policies, procedures, and professional standards
