Job summary

Job description

• Follow lesson plans and deliver instruction - Execute the regular teacher's plans or adapt when plans are incomplete, ensuring students continue learning
• Maintain classroom management and discipline - Keep students on task, enforce school rules, and create a productive learning environment
• Ensure student safety and supervision - Monitor students throughout the day and respond appropriately to any safety concerns or emergencies
• Take accurate attendance - Track which students are present and report absences according to school procedures
• Complete detailed substitute reports - Document what was accomplished, any behavioral issues, and important information for the returning teacher
• Adapt quickly to different environments - Work effectively across various grade levels, subjects, and schools with minimal preparation time
• Collect and organize student work - Gather completed assignments and maintain classroom organization for the regular teacher's return
• Communicate with school staff - Coordinate with office personnel, administrators, and other teachers about student needs or classroom issues
