Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a substitute teacher to cover for absent staff and provide engaging learning experiences across assigned subjects. You will support students’ intellectual, emotional, and social growth while maintaining classroom routines and safety.

You will implement lesson plans, use effective instructional strategies, and collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure continuity of learning. A positive role model and strong communication are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Desire to work with students of all ages and backgrounds.
• Proficient in computer skills.
• General knowledge of academic subjects, curriculum, and instruction.
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
• Strong organizational, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Implement teachers’ lesson plans to fulfill the district curriculum.
• Present subject matter according to TEA guidelines and regulations.
• Use instructional strategies and materials suitable for diverse learning needs.
• Collaborate with special education teachers to present modified curricula per IEPs.
• Supervise teacher aides and volunteers; integrate technology to enhance learning.
